About Ross

Ross McIntosh

I am an organisational and coaching psychologist. I focus on cultivating psychological well-being and flexibility in organisations and individuals.

After a career of over 20 years in central government in senior HR roles I left the Civil Service and returned to study, pursuing an MSc in Organisational Psychology at City, University of London. I loved it so much I forgot to leave and I'm now a researcher and honorary visiting lecturer in organisational psychology.

I also work with organisations and individuals in the public and private sector.

I am a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD). I'm also a member of the British Psychological Society, the Association for Business Psychology and the Association for Contextual Behavioural Science.

I hold a BSc Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Dundee, an MSc in Human Resource Management from the University of Surrey and an MSc in Organisational Psychology from City, University of London.

I am:
  • the part time in-house organisational psychologist at an executive agency of HM Treasury, the Government Internal Audit Agency. I am focussed on supporting leadership development and culture change through the design and delivery of interventions based on evidence based behavioural science;

  • a freelance organisational psychologist working in the private and public sector - cultivating psychological well-being and behavioural flexibility;

  • an honorary visiting lecturer in organisational psychology at City, University of London. I work alongside Dr Paul Flaxman, we have redesigned a workplace intervention based upon Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which we deliver on a "train the trainer" basis to organisations, particularly the NHS. Our research shows that the intervention improves psychological well-being in organisations;

  • a podcast founder and host - People Soup - nourishing the mind, flourishing at work.
